Happy New Years!

Happy New Year!! As a group fitness instructor, I love walking into a packed studio after the first of a new year. It is great to see the many familiar faces and the expression of eagerness and hopefulness of achieving their new year’s fitness goals (within a few classes) on the new faces. My goal is to help them achieve their goals, given reasonable eNew-Years-Eve-Fireworks-Background-16expectations. I have noticed that in the past 3 to 5 years, the group labeled as the New Year’s Resolution is decreasing in size. Is this because there are an increasing number of alternate techniques or methods of improving health and fitness outside of fitness facilities? Or perhaps because of the aging population i.e. baby boomers? I believe that this population understands and embraces the merits of staying physically active and as such, they are already part of the familiar faces I see. Hats off to them and of course, to the new faces that will (soon) become the familiar faces in the fitness facilities.
